| Preparation |
- Sand surfaces and wipe clean.
Basecoat back and front of surfaces with Titanium White + Light Primer (1:1).
- Transfer patterns.

Dark Green: Yellow Oxide + Phthalo Blue (4:2)
Light Cream: Medium Mix + Titanium White (2:1)

- Sky. Float Light Blue along top edge of sky and drag down to top of the woodshed.
- Background trees. Stipple fir trees with Medium Green using the old flat brush. Add tree trunks with Raw Umber.
- Bench. Base with Raw Umber.
- Building. Glaze the walls on the right with Light Red + Glazing Medium (3:1). Base window with Dark Blue. Stroke shutters, mullions, and windowsill with Light Gray.
- Bells. Base bells in front of window with Burnt Umber, highlight with Yellow Oxide, and shade the right side with Raw Umber. Glaze bells with Medium Red.
- Pots. Base plant pots with Burnt Sienna. Shade the right side and under the ridges with Raw Umber. Highlight the left sides and tops with Light Brown, then scrub around the top with a dry deerfoot stippler and Titanium White.
- Plants. Use the No. 10/0 liner with Raw Umber to line plant stems in pots, protruding from snow, and along building. Use the deerfoot stippler with Raw Sienna to stipple dried foliage among the stems.
- Woodshed. Base inside shed and under roof with Dark Gray. Base top of roof, ladder, and front support beams with Medium Gray. Highlight tops and left sides of roof, ladder, and front support beams with Light Gray. Shade inside roof and each side of background support beams with Carbon Black. Divide the wood planks with Carbon Black
- Wood. Randomly base ends of logs with Burnt Sienna, Light Brown, Burnt Umber, or Dark Brown. Add a darker value circle in the center of some logs with Burnt Sienna or Dark Brown. Outline each log with Raw Umber. Stipple Light Blue snow on top of logs. When dry, glaze logs with Burnt Umber + Glazing Medium (3:1).
- Wheelbarrow. Base frame with Dark Gray, then line right sides of frame with Carbon Black. Base wheelbarrow body and wheel with Dark Red, highlight with Medium Red, and brighten with Light Red.
- Birds. Base bodies of birds on weeds with Medium Red. Line wings on right bird with Raw Umber, and back and tail of left bird with Burnt Umber. Base chest of bird on barrow with Medium Cream, shade front of chest with Yellow Oxide, and add top of head, wings, and tail with Medium Red. Add face and feet to all birds with Carbon Black. Dot eyes with Titanium White. Add beaks with Yellow Oxide. Brighten red chests with a glaze of Napthol Red Light + Glazing Medium (2:1).
- Shadows. Glaze shadows (indicated by /// on the pattern) with Medium Blue + Glazing Medium (1:3).
- Snow. Stipple Titanium White on top of shed, on rungs of ladder, on top of wood in woodpile, support beams of shed, planters, bench, windowsill, shutters, and the ground area where there are no shadows Add more shadows to some snow areas with Light Blue. Glaze a little Yellow Oxide on top of shed and randomly in the foreground to create sun shining on the snow.

- Sky. Base sky Very Light Blue, then swirl in some Titanium White to create clouds. Sky should be nearly solid white above the trees.
- Trees. Stipple background trees with watery Medium Brown + water (2:1). Stipple tops of the middle section with watery Light Brown + water (2:1). Use the old flat with Dark Green to stipple pine trees, let dry, stipple in watery Very Light Blue, and lightly tap in some highlights with Titanium White.
- Bushes. Stipple Light Gray bushes under the fir trees, then highlight the left side of each bush with Titanium White. Glaze Dark Gray + Glazing Medium (2:1) shadows under bushes on left side. Load the deerfoot stippler with Yellow Oxide, wipe on a paper towel to remove excess color, and stipple dried foliage under the shadows on the left side and around base of mailboxes; stipple a clump of weeds on the other side of the road. Pull stems for the dried foliage with Burnt Umber.
- Large trees. Base birch trees with Light Gray, shade left sides and under the branches with Dark Gray, and deepen some areas with Raw Umber. Use the No. 10/0 liner to line bark, branches, and tree trunk in background with Raw Umber + water (2:1).
- Mailboxes. Base posts with Medium Gray, shade left sides with Dark Gray, and highlight right sides with Light Gray. Working from left to right, base boxes with Ultramarine Blue, Medium Green, Dark Red, and Dark Gray. Shade back, front, and middle of all boxes with Carbon Black. Base jug below second mailbox with Medium Gray, highlight with Light Gray, and shade under rim and handles with lines of Carbon Black. Add flags to mailboxes with Medium Red.
- Birds. Base body of bird on right with Medium Red and line wings with Raw Umber. Base chest of left bird with Medium Cream, shade front and back with Yellow Oxide, and add top of head, wings, and tail with Medium Red. Base faces of both birds with Carbon Black. Dot eyes with Titanium White. Add beaks with Yellow Oxide.
- Snow. Stipple snow along edge of road, on top of mailboxes and jug, in trees and branches with Light Gray, then brighten with Titanium White. Glaze Light Cream in some sunlight spots.
- Road. Float Burnt Umber along both sides of road and drag some color down the grooves in the road using the chisel edge of the brush. When dry, glaze with Titanium White + Glazing Medium (2:1) to mute the brown.

| Finishing |
- Float Very Light Blue around outside of circle and around openings in lacy-patterned rim.
- Gently sand surface and wipe clean. Apply a thick coat of Star Lite Topcoat.
- Varnish with Satin Varnish
