‘Tis the Season to Share
Christmas is that special time of the year to share your loving, caring, and giving spirit. This can be expressed in many ways. For some, the gift of service is their way to give back—donating time to local soup kitchens, senior centers, hospitals, animal shelters, and more. For others it means holding bake sales, craft fairs, or rummage sales to raise money to donate to those in need. With this in mind, be sure to paint an extra Christmas piece to donate for a good cause—it’ll make someone’s holiday extra special!
With each new issue of A PaintWorks Christmas, we strive to bring you new, inspiring designs along with traditional favorites. This year’s collection proves to be again different from any other year. Among the projects for this holiday season, we are pleased to present several plaques that can be hung indoors for a festive look or placed outdoors as a welcome greeting to family and friends. We also feature florals for your tree—an elegant tree topper and freeform rose ornaments. Don’t forget the tabletop; try painting a gorgeous china hot chocolate/coffee set which makes for a striking display when not in use. Another innovative idea is the window topper grouping, featuring chickadees amidst holly leaves and berries. You can easily leave this painting up for the entire winter season. And for those who collect Santa paintings, our primitive Santa board, inspired by the song “The Twelve Days of Christmas,” will become an heirloom piece to pass down for generations to come.
Christmas is also a time for reflection. A very special holiday project, Ellen’s Winter Basket, is tribute to talented artist and beloved decorative painter Ellen Stamilio, who passed away in May 2006. Of all the projects presented this year, this one was truly painted from the heart, as Ellen’s niece, Susan Stamilio, painted her aunt’s last design. Ellen’s Winter Basket is the fourth piece in Ellen’s four-season basket collection.
We had such a wonderful array of projects to choose from—many had to be placed in our next issue, PaintWorks December (our 16th Anniversary Special).
Until then, happy holiday painting!
