Celebration Time!

Twenty-two years…does that seem possible? During the fall of 1991, PaintWorks was launched as a 64-page quarterly magazine. Today, it is published eight times a year and includes two special holiday issues: PaintWorks Christmas Ornaments and A PaintWorks Christmas. Even though I was not involved with the first issues of PaintWorks, I became an editorial assistant in 1992. As the magazine evolved and grew, so did I—as an assistant editor, managing editor, editor, and then editor in chief.

Throughout the years, the magazine’s content has changed to reflect the exciting evolution of the painting market, featuring many new and improved products, techniques, and styles. Painters have crossed into other markets and now incorporate mixed media, such as inks, stamps, papers, and a variety of embellishments into their paintings. Creativity knows no bounds—be sure to experiment with some of these ideas.

It has been quite an exciting journey thus far. It is a privilege to be working with creative and passionate artists, staff members, and industry representatives, who provide me with an ongoing source of energy and inspiration.

With the holidays rapidly approaching, it is my hope that you share the joy of painting with someone who has never painted before—it will be a gift that keeps giving.

Happy Holidays!

Linda R. Heller
Editor in Chief
