At our office in northwestern New Jersey, we all have a bit of spring fever. With nearly two months of winter yet to come, we are eagerly planning for the season ahead. Here are some ideas to help get you started with your plans.
We’re pleased to debut Nony and Gisele’s new column, “Out & About with Nony and Gisele.” After reading this article, you will be inspired to hop in your car and begin your search for fun and exciting ideas and surfaces. Nony and Gisele will encourage you to “think outside the box,” and give you a new perspective on how to find and transform some of those great treasures that are waiting for you at garage sales, flea markets, secondhand stores, and more.
In a second new feature, we will go “back to basics” and rediscover the versatility and ease of creating fun faux finishes. In each issue, Jill DiMaria will present various faux techniques (some with a funky new twist) in her column, “Faux Simple”. The finishes will be painted on a set of five round shaker boxes, with each issue (excluding the annual Christmas Ornaments issue and A PaintWorks Christmas) featuring one box painted with a different faux finish. By the end of the year, you will have a unique set of five stacking boxes.
We’re thrilled to have Margot Clark join us with a special “Prime Your Palette” column. Margot was our original “Prime Your Palette” author, and wrote informative, popular columns for a number of years. In her article, Margot describes in depth a new texture medium called MUD. She developed this versatile product along with her business partner Saulius Jankauskas, MD. Be sure to see what exciting things Margot has been up to!
Spring brings with it new life and a new outlook. We have much more in our pages to inspire you and keep you painting until the spring thaw. Enjoy the adventure!
Happy Painting!
Linda R. Heller, Editor in Chief
