Inside this Issue — August 2010
Plan a "Staycation"!
The arrival of the summer season signals that it’s time for families to pack their bags and head off for a fun-filled weeklong vacation. Perhaps you don’t have time to travel this year, or perhaps it’s not in the budget. Don’t fret! With a bit of creative imagination, you can plan a stay-at-home vacation (“staycation”) that will be enjoyable, relaxing, and re-energizing.A staycation is a perfect opportunity for you to embrace the vivid colors of summer’s palette and transport yourself to the “resort” of your liking. Let your paintbrush whisk you away to far-off places.
Sail off to a scenic lake with Sharon Buononato’s Summer Lake Plate, Ana Verastegui’s Swan Tray, and Kathi Sojka’s Sailboat Watercolor Card; or find peace and solitude in Susan V. Cochrane’s two-piece set, Sunset Lake Tray and Card Box.
Enjoy the salty air and sun-warmed sand with Jane Allen’s Seashell Lamp, or go totally tropical with Patricia De Torres’s Tropical Fish plaque. Take a cruise to the Mediterranean with Sharon Teal Coray’s Turchino Oceano (Turquoise Ocean) canvas.
Take a trip to Cape Cod, Massachusetts, with Charlene Barlow’s Rainbow Ice Cream Plaque, or visit Colonial Williamsburg in Williamsburg, Virginia, as you paint Barbara (Franzreb) Bunsey’s Williamsburg Plate Series. The instructions for two of the plates are featured in this issue and the third can be found on our Free Projects page.
For those who are adventurous, go hiking in the woods with Peggy Harris’s Ferns with Insects and Creatures Tray. This issue also offers a wide variety of garden-themed projects to keep you busy over the next several months.
Plan ahead for your “staycation”—you just might find it a rewarding experience!
