Inside this Issue — Holiday 2009
We are excited to share this very special holiday issue of PaintWorks with you. This year’s annual Christmas issue is filled to the brim with unique, high-quality designs that are sure to inspire you with decorating ideas for your home and for gift giving.Back by popular demand is designer Lynne Andrews, whose Harvest Father Christmas proudly graces our cover. Featuring one of Lynne’s Santa boards each year has become a tradition. As soon as this Father Christmas arrived at the office, I knew he would be our cover and will bring the spirit of the holiday to your home. Thank you, Lynne, for keeping this annual tradition. To be truly inspired, be sure to look for our Painter’s Profile on Lynne in the December issue of PaintWorks.
New to our family of contributors is Marjorie Harris Clark. Her Father Christmas Tray evokes memories of Christmases past, with its likeness to an old-fashioned postcard. You can paint this design on a tray as shown or adapt it to any surface of choice.
Other Santas by some of our favorite designers include a Christmas album, a stunning Santa portrait, an elegant European-style Santa plate, a primitive Santa board, and a country Santa plaque—each design is as terrific as the next!
You will also find a variety of projects from other popular artists, including a wooden Christmas card, pink and red poinsettias, stunning wall décor, a countryside watercolor, a recipe box, a snowman floorcloth, a variety of ornaments, and much more!
As you make your Christmas list, be sure to include some hand-painted gifts for someone special…perhaps for someone who would least expect one from you! After all, isn’t that truly the spirit of the season?
Christmas is a time for family and friends. It is a time for love, sharing, hope, joy, giving, reflection, and thankfulness. I want to take this time to offer my thanks to all the designers and columnists we work with throughout the year and to recognize the personal thought, talent, and hard work that goes into each design and article. Sharing your artwork with others is so very important in our painting world, and we appreciate each and every one of you.
Merry Christmas!
Linda R. Heller,
Editor in Chief
